Just spotted this over at BeBits. There's now available for download a new Realtek Gigabit Ethernet Driver, based on the RLT 8169 chipset family. This driver is a demo which will work for 30mns only, thus allowing the user to test it with their card. If it works and the user wishes to keep it, it'll cost 15 euros to buy it.

This version has been tested with success both on R5 (using the net_server) and on Zeta RC2. As usual, even if you're just testing it and not buying it, don't forget to provide feedback so that the developer can continue to improve it.
BeDrivers.com have done it again. They are now hosting a fully functional version of Frizbe?s Driver Hardware Matrix !

They report "Thanks to Scott Bates, who kindly emailed us his web code and SQL data, the Matrix has now been Reloaded.

With just a few more tweaks, we'll have everything operational. If you have any issues, please don't hesitate to contact us.

In the meantime, why not enter the matrix."
As was the case in previous events, yellowTab will be present at this Spring's BeGeister 12.

yT will be demoing their latest version and will hold an USB Developer Workshop (as you know, USB support is better than it's ever been with Zeta).

This is what Bernd Korz said about the yT presence at BeGeistert: "I'm really looking forward to being at BeGeistert again. While trade shows like CeBIT are very important for us, BeGeistert really gives us the opportunity to meet with our users and developers. For a company like yellowTAB it's like an unofficial developer conference."

You can register for BeGeistert 12 right here.
In case you haven't found out yet, yellowTab has just posted a batch a new Zeta screenshots for everyone's viewing pleasure.

These are divided into "System", "Online", "Audio", "Video", "Graphics" and "Office", so don't wait any longer and head over there by using the link above.
TuneTracker Systems, makers of the widely known TuneTracker Radio Automatation Software has just unveiled TunePrepper, a new, BeOS-native "all-in one ripping tool".

According to TT Systems, TunePrepper "rips, normalizes, trims silences, looks up cut information online, encodes to all available formats (such as MP3, Ogg Vorbis, ADPCM, WAV, AIFF, and others), and adds cut data to the files' attributes". And the best of all is that, of course, being BeOS native, it runs on the same system where you have TT setup.

But TunePrepper isn't free. to get it you must go over to the order page and have your Credit Card ready. It costs USD $79.95. So if you're interested, head over and read more about it before making your decision.
The BeOS IM kit makes another huge step, with slaad adding support for the MSN protocol. The kit is making use of the latest protocol - MSNP10 - including secure logins.

It uses a Cryptography library called Cryptlib which compiles out of the box on both BeOS and Zeta.

The BeOS IM kit now has support for the following 3 protocols: ICQ, AIM and MSN. Work is also being done on getting the supported protocols more feature rich.

The IM kit team is looking for more developers, so if you're interested, head over to #beosimkit @ irc.freenode.org .

If you just want to try out the solution, the BeOS IM kit alpha 9.1 can be downloaded from http://www.eiman.tv/files/. The latest available sources can be downloaded from BeClan.

Philipe from the Masquerade IDE project shot me an e-mail letting me know of a news update.

In this news update they finally give a release date for version 0.2, both for the BeOS and for the Syllable port. The BeOS version will come out on April 30th with the Syllable version being released a short time after.

Click below to read the full news update.

R?mi from BeOSFrance shot me an e-mail with the results of a poll they had at their site, which asked the visitors which flavour of BeOS they used. The winner was R5 (vanilla) followed by Zeta. I think it shows the current trend, which is more and more users migrating from the aging (but still oh so sexy) R5 to Zeta.

Also, he brings good news to all the francophone users out there. There will be a 100% french edition of the R5 Dev. Edition released for download soon. It will have updated drivers, applications etc, all in French. We'll bring you more details as they surface.
Over at LeBuzz there's a poll about Pro Audio tools for BeOS/Zeta. They're interested in knowing the level of interest of BeOS users in purchasing professional audio tools if/when they become available.

We've just added an important new poll whose results will be made available to companies that are considering whether to develop BeOS versions of their professional audio software.

So don't wait any longer and go cast your vote by following the link above.
